Where the FX400 disc has hub springs, the FX500 disc has a solid unsprung center: nothing sits between the ceramic pucks and the hub to soak up shock. That single difference is what makes it a race clutch. Take-up is close to on/off, the driveline chatters at idle, and Clutch Masters is blunt enough about it to rate the system race only. What you get back is a large jump in holding capacity and a disc that sheds heat quickly under sustained abuse, which is the trade a high-boost 4G63 build usually wants to make.
Expect the box and the paperwork to name the 1993–1999 DSM cars rather than the Evo. These Evos were built for Japan alone, and the 7-bolt 4G63 driveline they share with the Eclipse GSX and Talon is how their clutch parts get listed here.
