The double-offset design deliberately repositions the inner rear pivot of the front lower control arm to add positive caster, which is the well-worn cure for an Evo 1/2/3 that tramlines, needs constant small corrections at highway speed and refuses to self-center on the way out of a bend. The same pivot happens to absorb fore and aft braking and acceleration loads, so a fresh polyurethane pair cleans up the wandering-under-brakes feeling in the same afternoon.
