Almost everything else in this category controls a wheel; this one controls the rack itself. As the rack mounts soften, the whole assembly shuffles sideways in its mounting as you turn, and that movement is subtracted from the steering angle you actually asked for. It is the small dead spot just off center that no amount of alignment work ever cures, and the reason a car can feel vague at the wheel while the suspension underneath it is genuinely tight. SPF1706K bolts the power steering rack down on polyurethane instead.
