The inner rear bushing on the front lower arm is the one that soaks up braking and drive loads along the length of the car, which is why it is usually the first bush in the front end to go soft. As it wears, the wheel is able to move backwards under brakes, caster wanders with it and the steering starts to feel remote and slow to centre. A polyurethane replacement puts the arm back on a fixed pivot and brings back the crispness the front end had when it was new.
