The flywheel is dead weight bolted to the end of the crankshaft, and every gram of it has to be accelerated before the car moves. Swapping the heavy factory item for aluminum means the engine picks up and drops revs noticeably faster, which makes rev matching on downshifts far easier and takes some of the dullness out of the throttle. The trade is honest: less stored inertia to lean on when pulling away, so low-speed maneuvering takes a little more clutch feel.
