Head gasket thickness is one of the levers you have over static compression: add thickness and you drop the compression ratio slightly, which buys back some margin for boost and ignition timing on a hard-run 4G63. Take it away and the engine gets keener off boost but has less headroom up top. Cometic list this one in the thicker part of their range for the engine, which is why it tends to end up on built motors rather than as a like-for-like factory replacement.
